The Help For Heroes Painting is Finished

I have just finished my painting of Curtis The Colossal Coast Guard Robot. I'm very happy with how it's turned out. All that remains is to paint a varnish over it to enhance the colours.

It's going to be auctioned via Cineworld In Brighton both on their Help For Heroes Day ( 16th Feb 2013 ) and also via an online auction site. Once the details are sorted out I will post up links about how to bid for it.

More Help For Heroes Painting

The painting is coming along nicely. I have to keep breaking off from it to do some paid illustration work but I think I should be able to finish it soon. I am planning to set up an Auction Page on Mission Fish in conjunction with Cineworld Brighton so that we can maximise the potential income for Help For Heroes.

Curtis Emerging From The Storm

My painting of Curtis the Colossal Coast Guard Robot is coming along. I'm having to fit the painting in with also doing commissioned illustration work but I'm very much enjoying working on it. As you can see the details are beginning to appear.

Help For Heroes Painting Progress

The painting for "Help For Heroes" is now on the illustration board. As you can see I drew it out first and then put a burnt sienna wash over the entire image. The next stage was just to start establishing some tones and basic colours. As you can see it is all very loose now. The details will start to come together over the next few stages.

Help For Heroes

Last year I did a really fun event at Cineworld in Brighton. I had to draw Robots at a stand in the Foyer as part of Cineworld's launch of the "Avengers Assemble" movie. Also taking part were the Firebrigade, the Police, the Coast Guard and St.Dunstan's home for Veterans who lost all or part of their sight in the services.

This year Georgie Sawyer from Cineworld has organised a day to raise money for Help For Heroes on Saturday February 16th. He asked if I could donate any Robot City material for the cause and I am very happy to do so. In fact I have decided to paint a Robot City picture especially for the event and donate the original artwork. I couldn't make up my mind between doing a picture of Curtis the Coast Guard Robot or one of the Robot City trains. Then it dawned upon me why I had to paint Curtis. Both my brothers used to be in the Army and they both served with the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers. As Fusiliers they both wore the red and white "Hackle" in their berets which is why I have decided to paint an image of Curtis the red and white striped Robot.

Here's the first very rough thumbnail sketch. Curtis is dragging ships back to harbour in a storm. I shall keep updating the progress of the painting.
